Embarrassing Bodies - Channel Four - Thursday 1st May at 9.00p.m.
Tuesday 26 February 2008 9:21 AM
Peter took part in the Channel Four programme ‘Embarrassing Bodies’. The idea of the programme was to take the embarrassment out of certain conditions by inviting men to seek treatment, thus removing the often self-perceived stigma of their problem and helping fellow sufferers by raising awareness of the help available.
In Peter’s episode there were four balding guys having different treatment for hair loss, one was having a transplant, one laser treatment, one medication for hair loss and one having Peter’s natural treatment. His patient, Rob, had Androgenetic Male Pattern baldness, the men on both his mother and father’s side of the family had lost their hair so the prognosis was not good. However, after a short period of treatment the hair loss reduced and short, weak hair that was dying appeared to recover and grew stronger.
Peter felt he had slowed the deterioration, stabilised his condition and in fact improved hair growth. He was therefore confident that he could keep Rob’s hair for longer. The doctors on the programme also felt that Rob's hair had improved more than the other the volunteers. using laser treatment and medication.
